Description
Kōhei Yamashita, a seasoned circus performer specializing in flying trapeze, leads his troupe's aerial team with seven years of experience, continuing a family tradition begun by his circus-performer parents. Suffering severe insomnia and work-related stress due to repeated failures during his trapeze act, he develops a festering belief that his new trapeze partner is deliberately harassing him—a perception influenced by his psychological state. At the urging of his wife and fellow troupe members, who note his inability to successfully perform with his new partner rooted in deeper interpersonal struggles and trust issues, he seeks psychiatric help from Dr. Ichirō Irabu. His therapy sessions include receiving vitamin injections from Irabu's nurse, Mayumi, after which surreal imagery, such as his head morphing into an animal form, visually represents his psychological state in the anime. Kōhei's story originates from the "Kūchū Buranko" chapter in Hideo Okuda's *Psychiatrist Irabu* series and forms part of the anime adaptation where his experiences intersect with other patients of Dr. Irabu across interconnected episodes.
