TV Special
Description
Elder Dolf is an elderly wildebeest marked by a distinctive white beard and long horns. His closed eyes and sickly appearance reflect his advanced age and failing health. He guards special healing herbs within the Crystal Forest, a role inherited from his predecessor and one he anticipates passing to a successor. Legend states many animals fail to obtain the herbs not through Dolf's physical strength, but because they neglect to ask politely for permission.
He first appears in Episode 30: "Adventure" of *The New Adventures of Kimba the White Lion* (1989), overseeing access to the herbs and demonstrating that cooperation and respectful dialogue, not force, are essential for success.
In the 2009 special *Jungle Emperor: The Brave Can Change the Future*, his health deteriorates significantly. Humans transport him to a laboratory for care. Kenichi rescues him, and Professor Hiwaka administers a curative shot. Following his recovery, he returns to the jungle alongside other animals in the epilogue.
He appears in no other official media. His consistent role across both appearances is that of a wise but physically frail guardian whose narrative emphasizes tradition and respectful dialogue. He is the sole character from the 1989 series to appear in the 2009 special.
