TV-Series
Description
Yūko Kinoshita is the older twin sister of Hideyoshi Kinoshita by three minutes, sharing his birthday. She holds the position of Class 2-A's Ambassador at Fumizuki Academy and ranks within the top 10 students academically in her year. Her personality starkly contrasts Hideyoshi's calm nature; she exudes pride, agitates easily, and frequently derides her brother as an "idiot" over his lower academic performance. She enjoys reading yaoi novels in her spare time.
Physically, Yūko and Hideyoshi are nearly indistinguishable twins. She wears the standard girls' uniform—a white and red shirt with a red tie and skirt—and secures her hair with two navy blue pins on the left side. Her voice possesses a moderate pitch compared to Hideyoshi's deeper tone.
A notable incident involves Yūko forcing Hideyoshi to switch places with her for a school promotional video after their teacher requested her to perform the school song. She resorted to intimidation when Hideyoshi pointed out her extreme tone-deafness and lack of rhythm. During the switch, Hideyoshi noted her skirt felt loose on him, prompting her to punch him. This swap later spawned rumors about her alleged attraction to girls and Hideyoshi's "breast development."
As a figure of authority in Class 2-A, which declared a Summoner Test War on Class 2-F, Yūko became the target of a Class 2-F plot. To avoid conflict, Class 2-F had Hideyoshi impersonate Yūko to insult other classes, calling them "filthy pigs." This successfully provoked multiple classes, temporarily sparing Class 2-F. During the ensuing large-scale battle, Yūko and Shouko Kirishima nearly achieved victory until an accident involving the school bell left both hanging from a rooftop pit. Yuuji Sakamoto rescued Shouko, but Yūko fell. After climbing out, she initially believed Class 2-A had won, only to later discover her summoned being delivered the final blow to Yuuji's summon, securing their win. This event fueled a lasting grudge against Hideyoshi and Class 2-F.
Her summoned being, or Shoukanjuu, wears heavy armor and wields a jousting lance. An occult variant takes the form of a Bakeneko, a supernatural cat entity known for deception by masquerading as a regular cat.
Her name reflects her traits: "Yū" (優) signifies "excellence, superiority, gentleness," and "ko" (子) means "child." Her surname "Kinoshita" combines "ki" (木) for "wood" and "shita" (下) for "under."
