Description
Eishirou Sugata is a tall, white-haired teenager with piercing blue-green eyes, distinguished by rectangular glasses and a perpetually worn school uniform. His composed, unreadable exterior conceals a brilliant mind and eccentric spirit, consumed by an unwavering quest to uncover the "New World"—a cryptic celestial phenomenon tied to Synapse, the enigmatic realm hovering above Earth. This obsession originates from childhood trauma: his older brother’s fatal glider accident during a test flight, which Sugata blames on his own failure to inspect the glider. The tragedy led to his disownment and replacement as family heir by his younger brother Yuugo.

As president of the New World Discovery Club, he spearheads research on Angeloids and Synapse, partnering with the Angeloid Nymph. His investigations blend encyclopedic knowledge of explorers like Magellan and Columbus with sharp deductive reasoning, his analytical monologues subtly hinting at future events. Preferring solitude, he resides in a riverside tent and displays unexpected physical strength, once subduing a bear unarmed.

His dynamic with Mikako Satsukitane, a childhood friend from a yakuza-linked family, oscillates between camaraderie and tension, particularly when she addresses him as "Ei-kun." Though outwardly stoic, he battles lingering guilt over his brother’s death, fueling his fixation on the New World. After years of estrangement, his spin-off reunion with Yuugo in *Yūryō Bukken Mō Dame Sō* subtly reaffirms their bond when Yuugo identifies Sugata’s companion Hamuel.

In the main series, Sugata becomes central to confronting Synapse, infiltrating it to reprogram its core "Rule" system at the cost of his life. His sacrifice is undone when Tomoki’s wish resets reality, reviving him to continue his research. The film *The Angeloid of Clockwork* showcases his relentless curiosity as he uncovers Hiyori Kazane’s Angeloid identity and challenges Synapse’s Master over memory alterations, though his own recollections are erased.

Later media, including *Daisuki Desu!! Mahou Tenshi Cosmos*, depict a 20-year-old Sugata still consumed by Synapse. The spin-off *Yūryō Bukken Mō Dame Sō* portrays him at 27–28, subtly mentoring Yuugo while persisting in his quest. Across all narratives, his journey reflects an unyielding drive for redemption, blending intellectual rigor with quiet accountability for those entangled in Synapse’s reach.
