Description
Originally the unnamed chief of a goblin village in the Great Jura Forest, Rigurd governed his people peacefully under the protective aura of the sealed Storm Dragon Veldora, revered by the goblins as a deity. During this era, the mysterious figure Gelmud named Rigurd's eldest son "Rigur." The village briefly prospered through trading adventurer equipment with Dwargon craftsmen. Veldora's vanishing aura, however, led to a devastating Direwolf attack. Rigurd's son Rigur died attempting to protect the village, sacrificing himself to deliver critical information about the threat. This crisis drove the goblins to seek aid from Rimuru Tempest, who arrived and defeated the Direwolf leader.
Following Rimuru's intervention, Rigurd and his goblins tamed the surviving Direwolves. Rimuru then bestowed the name "Rigurd" upon the chief, triggering his evolution from a frail, elderly goblin into a robust hobgoblin. This transformation drastically altered his physical state: he gained a muscular build, increased height equivalent to a large adult human, extended lifespan, and discarded his walking stick. His stuttering speech ceased, and he could now easily keep his eyes open. Deeply grateful for his rejuvenated body, Rigurd developed unwavering loyalty to Rimuru.
After the Jura-Tempest Federation's establishment, Rigurd ascended through key administrative roles. Appointed first as Goblin King to oversee daily operations across nearby goblin villages, he later served as captain of the goblin riders and Head of Security before becoming Prime Minister. In this highest-ranking position, he managed most internal affairs (excluding wartime operations), wielding authority second only to Rimuru. His responsibilities encompassed civil administration, citizenship oversight, and general Federation supervision. He proved a competent administrator with natural charisma that facilitated diplomatic relations, a trait encouraged by Rimuru.
Rigurd exhibits a generally stoic personality but displays emotional vulnerability regarding his family, particularly his second son Rigur (named by Rimuru in honor of his deceased brother). He frequently expresses profound pride in Rigur, sometimes to the point of tearful outbursts that exasperate others. His enthusiasm manifests in organizing frequent festivals and feasts. Despite these traits, he maintains a serious approach to governance and crisis management, ensuring others understand how to handle dire situations. He possesses a notable sense of humor and situational awareness.
Though lacking named abilities or special equipment, Rigurd possesses combat capabilities equivalent to an A-Rank adventurer. His substantial physical strength was demonstrated when he effortlessly lifted and threw a 20-meter Megalodon alongside Geld. Unaware of his own power, he occasionally lamented his busy schedule preventing training to become stronger. As Prime Minister, he represents the goblins within Tempest's leadership structure, contributing to decisions alongside other department heads while maintaining Undying Loyalty to Rimuru.
