Description
Master Roshi, the Turtle Hermit, appears approximately two years after Kid Buu's defeat during a banquet at Mr. Satan's new hotel celebrating the victory. When Vegeta's brother Tarble arrives seeking help against the alien duo Abo and Kado, Roshi volunteers, expressing a desire to relive past glories. He participates in the selection process for Earth's representative, where fighters draw radishes from Goku's garden; Roshi humorously notes Saiyans choose unusual wives, prompting Chi-Chi and Bulma to strike him.

When Abo and Kado attack the hotel and fuse into Aka, Roshi protects a group of maids from falling rubble caused by Aka's destructive energy blasts. He observes the battle alongside other fighters, wearing his traditional Turtle School uniform with Krillin during defensive efforts.

Roshi is a centuries-old martial arts master, trained under Mutaito and later Korin. He founded the Turtle School after helping seal the demon King Piccolo, an event where Mutaito sacrificed his life using the Evil Containment Wave technique. His famous pupils include Goku, Krillin, and Yamcha, trained in rigorous physical and mental disciplines. He created the Kamehameha wave and once destroyed the moon to prevent Goku's Great Ape transformation.

Historically, Roshi occasionally fought incognito as "Jackie Chun" in World Martial Arts Tournaments to ensure student humility. He sacrificed his life against King Piccolo using the Evil Containment Wave, though later revived. While surpassed during later threats like the Saiyans or androids, he continued training secretly. In the Dragon Ball Super era, he participated in the Tournament of Power, showcasing refined combat skills and dodging attacks instinctively through refined body control.

His long lifespan, potentially exceeding 1,000 years due to consuming the Paradise Herb, allows relevance across generations. He resides on Kame House with an ancient talking turtle he rescued centuries earlier, balancing lecherous tendencies with profound wisdom when guiding students toward self-improvement beyond strength.
