ONA
Description
Avo, also known as Abo, is a character who appears in the 2008 Japanese animated special Dragon Ball: Yo! The Return of Son Goku and Friends!!. He is a soldier in the Galactic Frieza Army, a vast military force once led by the tyrant Frieza. Avo operates alongside his younger brother, Kado, and the two are noted for their powerful teamwork and complementary abilities.

In terms of background, Avo and his brother were established soldiers under Frieza. Vegeta later recalls that during their early service, they were ranked in the same tier of strength as the elite Ginyu Force. At the time of Frieza's fateful mission to Nameki, both Avo and Kado were deployed on another planet, which is why they did not participate in the events that led to their master's death. In the years following Frieza's defeat, Avo and Kado continued to grow more powerful. According to the observation of Tarble, Vegeta's estranged younger brother, the two siblings eventually became strong enough to rival Frieza in his initial first form.

Avo has a distinctive and intimidating appearance. He is a large, blue-skinned humanoid with an extremely slender build, particularly in his limbs. His most prominent features include a single horn protruding from his head and two large, angular, pointed ears. As a member of the Frieza Force, he wears the standard white and brown battle armor along with a violet scouter, a device used to read the power levels of opponents.

Regarding personality, Avo initially displays the typical traits associated with Frieza's soldiers. He is arrogant and overconfident in his abilities, and like many of his comrades, he is shown to be heavily reliant on his scouter to assess the strength of his enemies. He and his brother pursue Tarble with the intent of retaliating against him for his defiance. However, a notable aspect of Avo's character is his lack of lasting malice. Following his defeat, he sheds his antagonistic demeanor and reveals an unexpected willingness to reconcile with his former adversaries. He and Kado ultimately put aside their conflict and are seen peacefully sharing a meal with the Z-Fighters and their friends after the battle has concluded.

The primary motivation for Avo and his brother is revenge. They relentlessly hunt down Tarble, who had defied them and fled his assigned planet. Their pursuit leads them from a remote star system all the way to Earth, where Tarble has gone to seek help from his brother, Vegeta. Once on Earth, their motivation shifts to overcoming the warriors who stand in their way, leading to a series of confrontations.

In the story, Avo and Kado serve as the main antagonists. Upon arriving on Earth in their Attack Balls, they are first engaged by the young half-Saiyan warriors Goten and Trunks. During the ensuing fight, Avo demonstrates his combat abilities. While he initially holds his own against Goten, he is eventually outmatched by the boy’s power. Realizing they are outclassed, Avo and his brother resort to their ultimate technique: fusion. By merging their bodies and powers, they transform into a single, much more powerful being known as Aka, a large, violet-skinned creature with spiky adornments on its body.

Avo’s most significant relationship is with his brother, Kado. Their bond is central to their identity and combat strategy. They work together seamlessly and their ability to fuse is the ultimate expression of their partnership, creating a warrior strong enough to challenge a fused fighter like Gotenks. Their relationship also serves as a contrast to the Saiyan pairs; while the brothers from the Frieza Force start as enemies, they end the story on friendly terms with the entire group, sharing in the post-battle feast. The character development for Avo is minimal but notable, as he transitions from a relentless, arrogant pursuer to a defeated but amicable figure who is content to eat radishes and put aside the conflict.

In terms of notable abilities, Avo possesses the standard skill set of a high-level Frieza Force soldier. He can fly using his ki and project energy blasts. His most distinctive individual technique is cloning, which allows him to split himself into multiple identical duplicates to overwhelm an opponent in battle. However, his most powerful ability is the Fusion Dance-like technique he performs with his brother, Kado. When they fuse, they create the singular, more powerful entity named Aka. In this fused state, their power increases dramatically, allowing them to perform powerful attacks such as the Wahaha no Ha, a green energy sphere fired from the mouth, and its more powerful variant, the Flaming Wahaha no Ha.
