One version depicts him originally as a terminally ill patient whose excruciating pain prevented him from consuming solid food, stripping his existence of joy. After death, his regret over never experiencing food like a healthy person reanimated him, transforming eating into an obsessive drive.

An alternate, anime-specific origin portrays him as a victim kidnapped by Ouri Kagami's mother. She became a Shikabane due to regret after a hit-and-run accident left her fatally injured and nine months pregnant. Following the birth of her child, she captured several individuals, including Hizuchi. He starved to death in captivity and reanimated consumed by an obsession for consumption, subsequently feasting on his deceased fellow captives. This version establishes him as Ouri Kagami's brother.

His Shikabane abilities center on devouring and entrapment. He manifests thick tendrils from his arms to ensnare enemies and extends his tongue to capture targets, powers reflecting his insatiable hunger. Within the anime storyline, he specifically targets Ouri Kagami to exact revenge for his starvation death, holding Ouri responsible for their mother's actions.

Hizuchi's narrative concludes when Makina Hoshimura and Ouri Kagami terminate him during their confrontation.
