Studying modern magic under Misa Anehara alongside Koyomi, Kaho masters the programming-like spell codes used in this device-dependent magic. However, she possesses a critical limitation: an inherent inability to detect magic. This prevents her from perceiving daemons, ghostscripts, or jinis, forcing reliance on others' descriptions of supernatural events she cannot witness.

Her technical skill proves vital. She aids the group in tracking and countering a mischievous jini at a water park despite being blind to it. Demonstrating foresight, she places a hard copy of her phone number inside Koyomi's cell phone battery compartment. Her most significant feat occurs after Misa Anehara's apparent demise. Receiving Misa's teleportation amulet, Kaho successfully amplifies its magic using her programming expertise. Furthermore, she adapts and deploys a miniature version of Misa's potent "Christmas Shopper" program—a worm granting global computer access—using only her cell phone, helping locate Misa during a critical Akihabara confrontation.

Kaho actively participates in magical investigations and battles with Misa, Koyomi, Yumiko, and Soushirou against threats like Gary Huang and the resurrected sorceress Digitalis Flammalacia.
