Description
Kelb commands the Royal Army for King Gilgamesh, leading assaults into the Tower of Druaga each Summer of Anu to destroy monsters and defeat Druaga. He initially scorns the independent Climbers as undisciplined adventurers lacking the camaraderie of his soldiers. His authoritarian leadership drives his troops relentlessly forward in his urgent quest to conquer the tower. In battle, he fights with a massive two-handed sword, favoring a direct and forceful approach. Ethana serves as his steadfast second-in-command throughout these campaigns. Ahmey, a lancer who later joins a Climber party, was once his mentee within the army.

After Druaga's second defeat chronicled in *The Aegis of Uruk*, Kelb resigns from the Royal Army, disillusioned by King Gilgamesh falsely claiming credit for the victory. He establishes a tavern near the tower. During the six months before *The Sword of Uruk*, he provides shelter for Jil and Fatina at this tavern. When Ki arrives, pursued by soldiers, and political tensions surge in Uruk, Kelb leaves his tavern to investigate the links between King Gilgamesh, Ki, Kaaya, and the tower.

His investigation uncovers the truth behind Gilgamesh's cursed immortality. Armed with this knowledge, Kelb rallies reinforcements for Uruk, bolstering the rebellion initiated by Ethana against the king's corruption. In the ensuing conflict, Kelb confronts and defeats Gilgamesh's true physical form while Jil and Kaaya battle the king's manifested shadow entity. Following these events, Kelb and Ethana marry.
