Description
Bougainvillea, nicknamed Bou, operates as an elite agent in the Inter-Colony Police’s Central Public Security division, investigating brain-colony outbreaks with her partner Mintao. Their partnership balances official duties with comedic clumsiness, often undermining their elite status. Together, they pilot the QT-Arms unit ARC III-BOUMINDA, which splits into two specialized mechas: Bougainvillea commands the yellow ARC-III-A-BOUGAILIAN, engineered for combat and reconnaissance.
Assigned to apprehend renegade ICP officer Itsuki Kannagi, Bougainvillea and Mintao repeatedly falter in missions, their botched attempts to capture him escalating into threats of career termination. Their exaggerated phobias—blood, ghosts, even their own shadows—add levity to their otherwise high-stakes role.
Bougainvillea’s design merges traditional geisha motifs with futuristic tech, including a parasol repurposed as a weapon. She employs hypnosis to extract intel and neutralize threats, complementing her QT-Arms engagements. Though fiercely loyal and authoritative, her inflexible adherence to protocol frequently undermines mission success.
Her assignments span ambushing Akiha Shishido and Itsuki during critical retrievals, probing lunar prison riots, and battling Nervalist automatons. Despite these pivotal roles, her character remains static, anchored to her dynamic with Mintao and their shared comedic misadventures rather than personal growth.
All documented portrayals of Bougainvillea derive solely from the main series, with no expanded lore in alternate media. She persists as a secondary antagonist, blending comic relief with her ICP mandate.
