Tombo trains as one of Yuna's karate students during the anime's first two seasons. A nice and hard-working young man, he is also prone to becoming easily scared and nervous. His background includes working at the pineapple factory on Izayoi Island. In the Japanese version of "Hull & Husk," this factory work is temporary; he closes his glass shop specifically to help process Izayoi pineapples, which he considers the world's best. The English dub presents a different motivation, depicting the factory job as a necessary part-time role because his glassblowing studio struggles financially, coupled with his goal of saving money for a surfboard. Tombo takes part in several key events. During "The Surprise Party," he works with Taro, J.J., Officer Suzuki, Jumba, and Pleakley to organize a surprise birthday party for Yuna, recruiting Stitch to help keep the secret, though Stitch ultimately refuses to lie about it. In the karate match featured in "Stitch vs. Penny," Yuna rigorously trains Tombo and the other students to face Penny's gang. Despite this preparation, Tombo loses his individual fight, though the overall match ends in a draw. Later, in "Princess Penny," Tombo falls under Checkers' influence alongside Yuna and others.
