Description
Bellin Ajelli, sometimes referenced as Berin, begins her story at sixteen years old. She serves as a Songstress on the colony world of Carmine, inheriting ancestral memories and knowledge through a generational rebirth process. This transfer allows her to accumulate wisdom across lifetimes. Her core mission involves aiding citizens oppressed by an interplanetary league’s policies, initiating a holy pilgrimage across Carmine to leverage inherited insights for their relief.

Conflict emerges when Prince Truhallon of the militant Donau Empire is assigned as her protector, responding to terrorist threats. His presence clashes fundamentally with her ideals, as the Empire represents the authoritarian systems she opposes. Their relationship is defined by profound ideological differences—her pacifism and liberation ethos contrasting with his martial discipline—yet they must cooperate to safely reach the capital.

Throughout their journey, disagreements stemming from opposing worldviews arise frequently. However, shared experiences across Carmine’s landscapes foster gradual, unspoken understanding. Environmental elements like shifting winds, flowing water, and rainfall subtly reflect her internal state.

Her physical portrayal adheres to director Mamoru Nagano’s aesthetic, emphasizing full-body expressiveness in animation. Subtle details, such as wind-responsive clothing and hair, enhance her dynamism. The design prioritizes intricate backgrounds where characters often appear small within vast settings.

The pilgrimage remains her narrative anchor. While events beyond the capital trek are undefined, the focus centers on atmospheric world-building and ideological friction over complex plot progression. External conflicts, including a brief mecha confrontation, challenge but do not alter her pacifist convictions.
