Azbes was a high-ranking royal guard for House Volder in Arst. When Marder's invasion killed King Volder and captured Queen Feria, Azbes was entrusted with safeguarding the infant Prince Jordy. He escaped the fallen capital with the prince, dedicating himself to raising the child in exile. To shield Jordy from Marder's forces, Azbes concealed the prince's lineage, renaming him "Jojo" and presenting him as his own grandson. For roughly twelve years, he raised Jordy within the protected community of White Hall (or White Valley) while relentlessly searching for the legendary ancient weapon, the panzer Galient, deemed essential to challenge Marder. Azbes trained Jordy in combat skills, preparing him for his destined role as leader and pilot of the Galient. He served as Jordy's primary guardian, mentor, and military advisor, forming a partnership often described as a "badass and child duo" – Azbes the veteran warrior and Jordy the young pilot destined for the powerful mecha. Azbes played a key role in organizing and leading the resistance against Marder's empire from White Valley, leveraging his tactical expertise. Following the successful rebellion and Jordy's reclaiming of his throne, Azbes continued to support the young king as he assumed leadership of Arst, fulfilling his lifelong duty to protect and guide the prince to rulership. In the OVA *Crest of Iron*, an alternate storyline reimagining relationships and roles of characters like Jordy, Marder, and Hy Shaltat, Azbes does not appear.
