Sylia von Bernstein is a high-ranking Imperial Guard officer assigned to apprehend the notorious space pirate Sara Scorpion. During their confrontation, Sara deliberately targets a populated city with her battleship's weapons to ensnare Sylia. Choosing to shield innocent civilians, Sylia intercepts the energy beam with her own defenses until exhaustion overcomes her, leading to her capture by Sara.

As an aristocrat, Sylia adheres to a strict code of honor and condemns Sara’s tactics as violations of integrity. Yet she simultaneously respects Sara as a formidable adversary, acknowledging their shared resolve and bravery despite their ideological clash.

Sylia actively confronts corrupt aristocrats and slave traders across the galaxy, including the faction known as the "demonic twins." Her missions repeatedly intersect with Sara’s activities during pivotal clashes exposing imperial corruption and exploitation.
