OVA
Description
Meito Anizawa manages the Animate Ikebukuro shop, a position inherited as his predecessor's final wish after he transitioned from his original role as the Animate chain mascot. He operates with intense enthusiasm, deploying military-style sales tactics that involve espionage-like strategies and passionate shouting to push merchandise. He identifies Konata Izumi as his most valued customer, dubbing her "Legendary Girl A" for her perceived power to dramatically increase store revenue. Despite elaborate efforts—including using a "Geass" in one attempt—his sales pitches to her consistently fail, exemplified by an instance where she fell just three yen short of buying a DVD.
His stylized appearance features a red headband and spiky black hair, complemented by a hot-blooded personality expressed through dynamic poses and energetic movements. This design intentionally resembles Domon Kasshu from *Mobile Fighter G Gundam*, reinforced by shared voice actor connections. Beyond the main series, he appears in the *Lucky Star* OVA attempting to sell Konata in-game items while concealing a Gold Cloth (from *Saint Seiya*) under his apron and showcasing legendary weapons like Excalibur and Gram from the *Fate* series.
Meito's background includes the dedicated spin-off OVA *Anime Tenchou* (2002), exploring his origin and rise to store management. He also features in other media: the manga spinoff *Akane Maniax* presents a character resembling him named Jouji Gouda, and he makes cameo appearances in *Hetalia: World Series*, *Disgaea 4*, *Hayate the Combat Butler*, and *Goku Sayonara Zetsubou Sensei*. In *Let's Go to the Festival*, he engages in a dramatic confrontation with another sales manager over leftover merchandise value. His Animate colleagues share a fervent sales drive, though none match his level of theatrical dedication.
