Takuro Sawatari commands the Fourth Division of the Kato Organization, an adversary of JUDA and its Machina pilots. He operates the Idaten Arma, a specialized close-combat unit armed with a polearm and rifle. Sawatari employs brutal and aggressively vigorous tactics in combat. He participates in coordinated assaults against JUDA forces. Following JUDA's designation as an anti-national armed group and its targeting by the military, Sawatari and Dimitri Magarov (piloting the Kagutsuchi artillery Arma) ambush protagonists Kouichi Hayase and Emi Kizaki during their attempt to seek refuge.
