Description
Musshuru appears as the secondary antagonist in the ninth One Piece film, *Episode of Chopper Plus: Bloom in Winter, Miracle Sakura*. He is the older brother of Drum Island's former king, Wapol, and was personally designed by Eiichiro Oda for this non-canonical movie adaptation.
Physically, Musshuru possesses a tall, thin frame. His distinctive appearance features pink hair shaped like a mushroom cap, a black beard, and a face mask covering his eyes. He wears regal armor, a violet cape, orange pants, fluffy shoes, and a weasel-skin scarf, creating a peculiar aesthetic that sets him apart from his brother and late father.
His personality is cruel, arrogant, and battle-hungry. Musshuru mocks opponents like Chopper during fights and shows no remorse for allies, even when his poisonous spores infect subordinates Chess and Kuromarimo. He frequently calls others "Kabayarou" (Hippo-head) and ends sentences with "oi." His unique laughter is rendered as "Mushushushu."
Musshuru wields the power of the Paramecia-class Noko Noko no Mi Devil Fruit. This allows him to generate and control lethal poisonous spores emitted from his body, capable of devastating Drum Island's population. He manipulates these spores for both offensive and non-poisonous effects, though fire neutralizes the poison and an antidote exists. Beyond his Devil Fruit, Musshuru demonstrates exceptional physical combat prowess, including agility rivaling the Soru technique and punches powerful enough to shatter castle structures.
Years before the film's events, an incident involving his spores endangering Drum Island led to his exile in the Land of Fire, where volcanic heat nullified his powers. Wapol later retrieves him during the Blackbeard Pirates' invasion, planning to use his spores to kill Drum's populace and replace them with loyal soldiers. Musshuru accompanies Wapol to reclaim the kingdom. During the climax, he battles Luffy, gaining advantage through speed and poison until Usopp incinerates him with a fire attack. Robin administers the antidote to Luffy, who then defeats Musshuru using Gear Second. Wapol subsequently consumes both Musshuru and a cannon, forming a fusion hybrid intending to fire a poison bomb. The Straw Hats destroy the bomb, and Luffy launches the fused Wapol-Musshuru entity off the island.
Musshuru briefly reappears in *One Piece: Stampede*, attending the Pirates Festival alongside Wapol's reconstituted Evil Black Drum Kingdom.
