Description
Urara Kasugano enters L'École des Cinq Lumières Middle School as a first-year student. Half-Japanese through her mother and half-French through her father, she carries the legacy of her late mother, a renowned actress whose passing ignited Urara's own acting ambitions. Her demanding schedule and perfectionism previously isolated her, leading her to adopt a cheerful yet distant front before transferring. Befriending the warmly welcoming Yumehara Nozomi finally allowed Urara to reveal her true self.

Witnessing Nozomi and Rin combat an enemy triggers Urara's transformation into Cure Lemonade, the Pretty Cure of Effervescence. A yellow butterfly grants her a Pinky Catch for this purpose. She announces herself with: "The fragrance of bursting lemon, Cure Lemonade!" Her light-based powers, symbolized by yellow butterflies, manifest in attacks like **Lemonade Flash** (releasing butterfly clusters), **Lemonade Shining** (using the Lemonade Castanet for a similar effect), and **Prism Chain** (forming butterfly-chain whips). As Cure Lemonade, her hair brightens to yellow, styled in conical buns with zigzag side strands, and she wears a cream dress featuring a butterfly-shaped bow, opera-length gloves, and scalloped boots. Design evolves across seasons and movies, including wings as Super Cure Lemonade and altered accessories in *GoGo!*.

Urara balances cheerfulness with introspection. Polite, frequently using "-san" honorifics, she projects calm while wrestling internally with shyness and occasional insecurity. She mirrors Nozomi's impulsiveness and love of eating, sometimes resulting in shared mishaps. Her acting career demands utmost seriousness and fuels self-criticism, amplified by director Takigawa Mariko's exacting standards. Urara initially mistook Mariko's critiques for disdain before realizing they urged innovation. She also harbors a specific fear: scoleciphiophobia (fear of worms).

Her growth focuses on relationships and career. Early storylines depict hesitation about a singing debut, fearing it might sidetrack her acting dream. Nozomi persuades her both paths "share dreams," leading Urara to compose her first song, "Extraordinary! Door of Courage." Persisting despite a later failed audition, she continually hones her craft. In *GoGo!*, she bonds deeply with the fairy Syrup, confiding her dreams and earning his trust. Her journey emphasizes self-acceptance, shifting from seeking approval to valuing personal growth, exemplified by prioritizing genuine artistic expression over external validation.

Key relationships include deep admiration and trust with Nozomi, a growing bond with Syrup mirroring other fairy-Cure connections, and a complex dynamic with director Mariko. Her supportive father and grandfather comprise her family. Spin-offs like *Power of Hope: Precure Full Bloom* show her as an adult actress with waist-length hair and glasses. She mentors characters such as Onpa Kotone in dream sequences, sparking Kotone's idol aspirations.

Notably, Urara is the youngest on her Cure team (aged 13–14) and the franchise's second-youngest overall. Her name combines "spring day" (春日野) and "bright/beautiful" (うらら), reflecting her light-based powers. She remains the only biracial Cure and one of few with a deceased parent. Merchandise associates her with snapdragon flowers, symbolizing purity.
