She actively recruits Rin Natsuki, recognizing Rin's athletic abilities could elevate the team from a casual association to official school club status, focusing her leadership on teamwork and achieving this goal.

Before a crucial match, Kaori sustains a leg injury but plays regardless due to the team having no substitutes. The club loses in the qualifiers, testing morale. Following the defeat, student reporter Mika Masuko publishes an unflattering article in the school newspaper speculating about Kaori's potential resignation. While Rin confronts Mika over the article's insensitivity, Kaori demonstrates resilience, viewing the incident as less consequential. Later, after Mika reconsiders her reporting approach, she conducts a follow-up interview portraying Kaori and the club positively.

Kaori reappears briefly during a futsal match in the sequel season, checking on Rin after noticing her fatigued performance. She has light brown hair typically tied in a ponytail and wears a purple tracksuit during matches. Other futsal club members under her leadership include Miho Saito, Eri Nakazawa, and Aki Yamamoto, who share her commitment.
