Description
Bunbee debuts as a villain in Yes! Pretty Cure 5, serving Nightmare as a mid-level manager who commands subordinates like Girinma, Gamao, and Arachnea with a demanding, initially menacing attitude. His true form features a muscular humanoid bee design with segmented red and yellow-gold armor, large wings from his shoulders, and a bee-like headpiece. He exhibits pronounced fear toward his superior Kawarino, and his role gradually shifts toward comedy as managerial failures lead to demotion within Nightmare. After surviving a fall by recalling his flight ability, he leaves the organization.

In Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!, Bunbee joins Eternal but occupies a low rank, enduring mockery from Nebatakos and Anacondy while performing menial tasks like tea service. Frustrated, he attempts to lead the Pretty Cure by leveraging past connections but faces rejection due to harsh methods. He forms a genuine friendship with Scorp, another Eternal member, despite repeatedly mispronouncing Scorp's name, and reacts with visible distress to Scorp's sacrifice. Witnessing Eternal's leader kill Mucardia and petrify the Pretty Cure, Bunbee aids the heroes by revealing a secret entrance to Eternal's collection room, enabling their restoration. Post-Eternal's defeat, he founds Bunbee Company.

He appears in the film Yes! Pretty Cure 5 GoGo!: Okashi no Kuni no Happy Birthday!, briefly assisting Mushiban by stealing Nozomi's cake and luring the Cures into a Sweets Kingdom trap. He abandons Mushiban immediately upon seeing the meager reward offered.

In HUGtto! Pretty Cure, Bunbee reveals a fleeting affiliation with Criasu and helps the Hugtto and Kirakira Pretty Cure teams locate the Yes! Pretty Cure 5 members. Frozen in time during a conflict, he is restored after Doctor Traum's defeat.

Years later, in Kibou no Chikara ~Otona Pretty Cure '23~, Bunbee works for a building management company following his business's failure. While inspecting dilapidated apartments, he flees upon seeing a woman transform into a Shadow. Encountering the adult Pretty Cure team, he initially resists helping them but later assists Coco in finding an apartment, partly to boost his sales record. Saved from Shadows by Cure Dream, he admires her, especially when she addresses him respectfully by name. He later encourages townspeople to cultivate their own hope rather than depend solely on the Cures and joins community service efforts.

Bunbee's persona evolves from superficially threatening to primarily comedic relief. He displays consistent traits of nervousness, opportunism, and clumsiness, particularly within Eternal. A recurring gag involves forgetting his transformation and flight abilities, causing near-disasters. Relationships vary: he forges authentic bonds like his friendship with Scorp and gains trust from Cures like Nozomi and Urara, while others like Rin and Kurumi remain suspicious. He notably favors Cure Dream above other Pretty Cures.

Trivia highlights include Bunbee being the first franchise villain to appear in a feature film during his debut season, survive into a sequel season, and feature in crossovers like Pretty Cure All Stars DX 2 and DX 3. His Japanese name derives from "byun" (buzz), complementing his bee motif. The flight-forgetfulness gag recurs throughout his appearances.
