Jinta Yadomi, known as Jintan, was the childhood leader of the Super Peace Busters, a group including Meiko "Menma" Honma, Anjou Naruko, Matsuyuki Atsumu, Tsurumi Chiriko, and Hisakawa Tetsudō. After Menma's accidental death, the group fractured. Jinta withdrew completely, becoming a reclusive high schooler who neglected his education and isolated himself at home playing video games. Years later, Menma's ghost appears only to Jinta. He initially dismisses her as a hallucination but gradually accepts her reality. Unable to recall her unfulfilled wish, Menma persistently urges Jinta to help her remember it. Reluctantly, he reconnects with his estranged friends, navigating unresolved tensions and emotional distance stemming from their shared trauma. Through this process, Jinta confronts his deep-seated guilt and grief over Menma's death. Reuniting the group reveals their collective burdens of remorse, regret, and unspoken feelings. As Jinta coordinates the effort to uncover Menma's wish, he faces complex interpersonal conflicts, including Anjou's lingering romantic feelings and Matsuyuki's suppressed resentment. These reunions force Jinta to acknowledge his role in the group's disintegration and his avoidance of emotional responsibility. The culmination happens during a symbolic fireworks display where the group collectively addresses their unresolved grief. Jinta plays a pivotal role in facilitating Menma's final moments, enabling her to convey forgiveness and love before peacefully ascending. This allows Jinta to release his long-held guilt, reconcile with his friends, and begin reintegrating into society, marking his transition from isolation.
