Description
Kiku Takane, older sister to Ryuuji Takane and daughter of a celebrated boxer lost too soon, forged resilience through hardship. After fleeing their abusive stepfather Tomizo with Ryuuji, she channeled her father’s strategic genius into coaching her brother, determined to uphold his legacy and shield their mother, Chiyo. Her initial rigid methods strained their bond, leaving scars on Ryuuji’s childhood, but she gradually wove compassion into her discipline, nurturing his rise as a tenacious boxer.

Her sharp tactical mind earned accolades from peers like Jun Kenzaki, Ryuuji’s rival-turned-ally, whose mutual respect with Kiku blossomed into love. They married and had a son, Rindo Kenzaki—protagonist of the sequel—later raised by family friend Ishimatsu Katori following their untimely deaths.

Kiku’s influence rippled beyond Ryuuji, commanding Ishimatsu’s unwavering loyalty and sparking competitive fire in rival Takako Kawai. Though her coaching role waned after Ryuuji’s early triumphs, her strategic brilliance reignited during pivotal later matches, underscoring her enduring impact.

Defying gender norms in boxing’s male-dominated arena, she balanced shrewdness with warmth, her spirited demeanor marked by a trademark "-ccha" speech quirk and tomboyish grit. Her legacy persisted through Rindo in the sequel, a testament to her unyielding spirit and the bonds she forged.
