TV-Series
Description
Ellen Kurokawa, originally called Siren, possesses a complex history across multiple forms. Born a dark indigo cat in Major Land, she served as a songstress alongside her childhood friend Hummy. Envy consumed Siren when Queen Aphrodite chose Hummy over her to perform the annual Melody of Happiness. This jealousy drove her into an alliance with Mephisto of Minor Land, accepting his offer of brainwashing. As a villain, she adopted a cold, calculating personality devoid of empathy, refusing to discuss her pain. Utilizing her necklace for shape-shifting, she spawned Negatones to advance Mephisto's goal of spreading sorrow.

After Hummy convinced her she was being manipulated, Siren broke free from Mephisto's control. The shattering of her necklace during this redemption permanently trapped her in human form as Ellen Kurokawa, causing her distress over the loss of her original identity. As Ellen, she is a 14-year-old girl with dark purple hair and gold eyes, attending Private Aria Academy as a second-year student alongside Hibiki and Kanade. Shirabe Otokichi facilitated her integration into human society by providing school uniforms, supplies, and living arrangements.

Ellen's personality shifted dramatically post-redemption. She became cheerful, upbeat, and openly kind, though she retained childlike naivety, such as a fear of ghosts and monsters. She expressed enthusiastic curiosity about the human world and a desire to form friendships, particularly with Hibiki and Kanade, though initial closeness proved challenging. Her relationships include rebuilding her bond with Hummy, developing a crush on Ouji Masamune after he saved her from a car accident, and seeking guidance from Shirabe Otokichi.

Her alter ego is Cure Beat, activated by the Fairy Tone Lary and the Love Guitar Rod. She introduces herself with "Playing the soulful tune, Cure Beat!" and the catchphrase "Can't stop my heart's beat!" Cure Beat's appearance features lavender hair in a long ponytail, gold eyes, and a blue-themed outfit with an indigo tutu, thigh-high boots, and a hair accessory with feathers and hearts. Her attacks include "Pretty Cure Beat Rock" and "Cure Beat Dynamic" using the Love Guitar Rod. In the movie *Suite Pretty Cure♪: Torimodose! Kokono ga Tsunagu Kiseki no Melody!*, she gained an upgraded "Crescendo Cure Beat" form, displaying lighter hair, larger wings, and a simplified pale blue and white costume with gold feather-like accents.

Thematically, her name "Kurokawa" (黒川) combines "black" (kuro) and "river" (kawa), reflecting her original dark coloration, while "Ellen" derives from "electric" (エレクトリック). The "Beat" in Cure Beat references the musical unit of time and pulse. Her story concludes with her fully embracing human life, focusing on academic growth and deepening friendships, while occasionally grappling with the permanence of her human form.
