Description
Dan Hōjō is the father of Hibiki Hōjō and husband of Maria. He primarily cares for Hibiki while Maria travels for her music career. He works as a music teacher at Private Aria Academy and consults for the school's Orchestra Club, conducting student performances including those of the Musical Princes quintet.

He possesses wild red hair reaching his neck and blue eyes, his hairstyle evoking classical composers like Ludwig van Beethoven. He frequently incorporates German phrases into conversation, a habit rooted in musical tradition, contrasting with Maria's use of French; they share an intuitive multilingual dynamic.

His relationship with Hibiki is central. During her childhood, he taught her piano but expressed dissatisfaction, calling her performance "false music," causing a rift that led Hibiki to abandon music. He did not express overt concern, believing her innate love for music would resurface. His parenting style is hands-off due to professional commitments, requiring Hibiki's early independence.

A significant shift occurs when Hibiki confronts a Negatone during a school concert. She realizes his criticism meant she needed to play with genuine emotion, not just technical perfection. This understanding reconciles them and rekindles her musical passion. His musical philosophy emphasizes that music must flow from the heart to bring joy.

Throughout events, he demonstrates initial immunity to the Melody of Sorrow's effects but later succumbs and is petrified. His role extends beyond teaching; he actively participates in the cultural fabric of Kanon Town, known as The Town of Music.
