Description
Schneider is an elderly pirate captain appearing in "One Piece 3D: Mugiwara Chase" and "One Piece: Stampede." Once captain of the Schneider Pirates, only his loyal companion Buzz, a dog who consumed the Tori Tori no Mi, Model: Eagle Devil Fruit granting eagle transformation, remained. Accidentally swallowing a fork caused Schneider stomach pain and bloody coughs. Mistaking this for terminal illness, he devised a plan to distance Buzz, assigning him the impossible task of stealing Monkey D. Luffy’s straw hat to spare Buzz from witnessing his death.
The Straw Hat Pirates found Schneider unconscious on his ship. Brought aboard the Thousand Sunny, Tony Tony Chopper treated him without identifying the cause. Schneider awoke to learn Buzz succeeded in stealing the hat but was now pursued by Luffy, facing dangers like Marines and Sea Kings. Demonstrating unexpected vitality, Schneider commandeered the Thousand Sunny to rescue Buzz, showing agility and determination during the chase.
Schneider reunited with Buzz at a Marine base, expressing profound guilt and tearfully apologizing. After the conflict, Chopper discovered the swallowed fork—the true cause of his illness—which Schneider had unknowingly coughed up earlier, resolving his health crisis. Recovered, Schneider and Buzz resumed pirating. They later attended the Pirates Festival in "One Piece: Stampede," briefly shown in a crowd scene where Schneider ate while affectionately stroking Buzz.
Schneider’s personality blends initial gruffness and stubbornness with deep loyalty. His attempt to isolate Buzz stemmed from concern. His actions during the rescue underscored his enduring bond. His design includes a purple captain’s coat, a gnarled cane, and a distinctive red chest tattoo partially obscured by clothing. He carries an ornate flintlock pistol, exhibiting no exceptional combat abilities beyond basic firearm use and unexpected bursts of physical vigor when motivated by Buzz’s safety.
