Description
Fumiya Ninomiya, a teenage boy roughly a year older than Saori Chiba, meets her at a Christian church. He develops a strong infatuation despite Saori's consistently abrasive and dismissive responses to his advances. Perceiving himself as charming and suave, Fumiya frequently tries to impress Saori with flowers from his parents' shop, though she sees through his efforts and rejects his gestures. His persistent pursuit of her attention and gratitude defines him.
His initial aversion to gender nonconformity surfaces when Saori shows him a photo of Shuichi Nitori in feminine attire, calling it "cute." This triggers jealousy, leading Fumiya to mock Shuichi publicly at school, ridiculing the cross-dressing as attention-seeking. This strains his relationship with Saori and foreshadows his later actions.
During a school cultural festival, Fumiya attempts to win Saori's affection by presenting her a bouquet while she wears masculine attire for a gender-swapped *Romeo and Juliet* performance. Saori pretends appreciation but later gives the flowers to Mako, undermining his effort.
A subtle shift occurs when Fumiya skips school with Shuichi, visiting his church. He questions Shuichi about the motivations for cross-dressing, asking if it's for fun or a deeper expression of identity. This hints at changing perspective, though Fumiya initially lies about his own discomfort with cross-dressing.
The following year's cultural festival sees Fumiya participate in a maid café, dressing in feminine attire and serving as a maid. He openly enjoys the attention and admits to liking being called "cute," indicating growing acceptance or exploration of his gender expression. He maintains a male gender identity.
Later, in high school, Fumiya and Saori begin dating, marking a significant progression in their relationship after earlier conflicts.
