Description
Camilla Sauer Keynes, also known as KK or K2, is Hugh Anthony Disward's childhood friend and the younger half-sister of Leon. She comes from a wealthy family operating multiple businesses; her father, the richest man in their town and a friend of the Diswards, enabled her frequent childhood visits to Wesley Disward's estate. There, she and Hugh explored the mansion and mastered its secret passages. Camilla admired Hugh's mother, imitating her mannerisms, and both sometimes modeled for her dress designs.
A traumatic event marked her childhood at age seven or eight when her mother died in a train derailment caused by escaped prisoner Gloucester Jiryis, leaving Camilla's right arm scarred in the original timeline. Hugh, Dalian, and Heizer Hayling later prevented this derailment using the Timetable Phantom Book, altering the timeline. Though her parents continued to quarrel, her mother survived. Camilla subsequently moved to America due to her father's work, adopting Western fashion and behavior. She returned to Britain after World War I and resumed visits to the Disward estate upon learning of Hugh's return.
Energetic, cheerful, and spontaneous, Camilla frequently teases Hugh and Dalian. She exhibits enthusiasm for American culture, often giving thumbs-up signals and displaying an eccentric fashion sense. Despite her privileged upbringing, she volunteers as a teacher at a private school for underprivileged children, demonstrating compassion and dedication that sparks rivalry with Mildred, who runs a competing school. Camilla maintains a loving relationship with her half-brother Leon, though his status as an illegitimate child creates familial distance.
Appearing as a short 19-year-old with blonde shoulder-length hair, green or greenish-blue eyes, and a youthful smile, Camilla dresses in American-inspired attire: typically a snow-white blouse with a lace-up corset, red tie, black felt hat, and high-laced boots. Her skirt features a thick leather belt housing a gun holster. As a child, she wore expensive dresses with braided hair. Alternate outfits include a Chanel suit in anime adaptations and a gentleman's disguise in the "Book of Equivalence" storyline. In the spin-off "Dalian Days," she works as a nurse at Road Windal Academy, wearing a doctor's coat over Western clothing.
Camilla plays roles in several story arcs. In "Book of Wisdom," she visits Hugh and Dalian at a bookstore, invites them to her summer house, and reveals her knowledge of Phantom Books. She seeks their help for rival Mildred, who misused the Book of Wisdom. During "Queen of the Night," she gifts Swiss chocolate to the Disward estate, indirectly triggering an incident involving a carnivorous cactus. In "Book of Equivalence," she arrives unannounced with characteristic exuberance. Her persistent visits, often using sweets to appease Dalian, establish her as a recurring catalyst for events.
She resides in a summer house near a river with a glass-enclosed veranda, facing Mildred's residence across the water. She also occupies a family villa serving as her father's local office, attended by multiple servants who occasionally express disapproval of her unladylike behavior.
