Description
Lessing, an upper-class citizen from the elevated city of Top, travels to the impoverished valley community of Bottom. He wields the authority and resources of the privileged Topper society. Lessing hires local AT pilot Aki Tesuno for a mission: rescue Cendrillion, the kidnapped daughter of a prominent chairman, allegedly taken by a man named Deerhalt. This establishes Lessing as a figure of influence leveraging Aki's skills.
Lessing's true intentions prove complex and self-serving. He orchestrates the kidnapping scenario as part of a scheme to seize power. After Aki locates Cendrillion and Deerhalt, Lessing betrays both, attempting to reclaim Cendrillion for himself. This double-cross reveals his deceptive nature and willingness to manipulate others for personal gain. His ambition focuses on leveraging the chairman's daughter to advance his political standing within Top.
Lessing's actions culminate in a confrontation where his betrayal is exposed. Facing opposition from a united Aki and Deerhalt, who realize his true motives, the conflict results in Lessing's defeat and downfall, concluding his direct narrative involvement. He functions primarily as an antagonist whose manipulation drives the central conflict, highlighting themes of class disparity and ambition.
