Description
Mai Kobayashi originated as a genetically engineered psychic enhancement experiment under Dr. Kenzo Kobayashi’s T-Link System. Fabricated to pose as Aya Kobayashi’s younger sister despite lacking biological ties, she received implanted false memories to deepen loyalty and amplify psychic prowess. Declared inferior to Aya, Kenzo abandoned her, staging her death to provoke Aya’s emotional turmoil for further research.

Captured by Aerogater forces, Mai endured neural reprogramming and genetic alterations, reborn as Levi Tolar—a merciless Balmarian commander deeming humanity disposable. Piloting the Judecca mecha, Levi exhibited calculated cruelty opposed to Mai’s inherent timidity. Though believed destroyed by SRX and ATX Teams, the self-regenerating Septuagint system revived her body, erasing her Levi persona yet leaving fractured memories that triggered violent nightmares and psychological fractures.

Returning to the SRX Team, Mai channeled her Psychodriver powers through the R-Gun Powered and ART-1 units, enabling signature combination assaults such as the T-Link Double Knuckle with Ryusei Date and HTB Cannon with Aya. Her growing affection for Ryusei sparked a respectful rivalry with Latune Subbota, while mounting awareness of memory gaps intensified her withdrawn nature.

Throughout clashes with the Neo Divine Crusaders and alien invaders, Mai faced spectral projections of Levi’s influence within her mind. With allies’ support, she shattered Levi’s lingering control, cementing her autonomy. Bonds with Aya, Ryusei, and junior pilots Seolla Schweitzer and Arado Balanga anchored her transformation from manipulated asset to dedicated protector.

Her journey traces a path from laboratory construct to sovereign warrior: enabling the SRX’s synchronized attacks, wrestling with Levi’s spectral remnants, and forging kinship amidst mecha squadron battles. These threads converge in her thematic core—a being crafted for control who claimed agency through vulnerability, trust, and defiant self-definition.
