Description
Aya Kobayashi serves as a core pilot in the SRX Team, an elite unit operating cutting-edge mecha. Her existence stems from non-biological experiments orchestrated by her adoptive father, Dr. Kenzo Kobayashi, who augmented her latent Psychodriver abilities through memory manipulation—crafting a fabricated daughter identity to maximize compatibility with the T-Link System essential for synchronizing the SRX. This artificial lineage extends to her sister, Mai Kobayashi, formerly Aerogater commander Levi Tolar, whose memories were restructured to forge a sisterly bond and amplify their psychic coordination.

Recruited into the Earth Federation Army, Aya spearheaded the SRX Team’s formation under Major Ingram Plissken, mentoring recruits Ryusei Date and Raidiese F. Branstein while privately wrestling with self-doubt over her leadership. The unit’s stability fractured when Ingram, exposed as an Aerogater infiltrator, sabotaged the SRX’s inaugural combination trial—an act inflicting lasting physical and psychological scars. Surviving his betrayal, she aided Earth’s defense during the Aerogater onslaught and confronted Ingram in a climactic duel where his last words implored her to carve her own destiny.

After the team’s dissolution, Aya remained in Japan alongside Ryusei, testing the experimental R-Blade and aiding Kenzo’s research until the Neo Divine Crusaders’ uprising necessitated the SRX Team’s revival—now including Mai. The antagonist Águila Setme’s exposure of their manufactured origins briefly shattered her resolve, yet solidarity from comrades reignited her determination to transcend her engineered past. Embracing Ingram’s final counsel, she reconciled with Kenzo and Mai, choosing to honor their artificial bonds as genuine.

Within the Alpha timeline, her journey mirrors these events with a divergence: Levi allies voluntarily against the Aerogaters, hastening the sisters’ reunion. Amidst the Balmarian war in *3rd Super Robot Wars Alpha*, Aya is captured following the SRX’s near-annihilation, later rescued to pilot the upgraded SRX Altered Banpreios in humanity’s climactic struggle.

Outwardly approachable yet inwardly conflicted, Aya conceals leadership insecurities and existential turmoil beneath a veneer of calm professionalism. Her combat expertise as a Psychodriver pairs with unwavering loyalty to her team, though interactions remain guarded—balancing mentorship with emotional distance as she navigates identity forged through manipulation and choice.
