Description
Chapra's Mother, an enslaved woman of the Shudra caste, endures harsh servitude. Her suffering motivates her son Chapra to attempt her rescue when their master threatens to sell her. Tatta, a boy with supernatural abilities, aids this rescue. During the attempt, the invading Kosalan army destroys their village.

After the destruction, Chapra devises a plan to improve their fate. He saves General Budai of the Kosalan army, leading to his adoption by the general. This adoption elevates Chapra above his low-caste status but requires him to conceal his true heritage. Chapra's Mother maintains a connection to her son despite his new life.

Her later reappearance becomes a critical turning point. Her presence and identity as Chapra's biological mother expose his secret Shudra origins. This revelation jeopardizes Chapra's position within Kosalan aristocratic society and undermines General Budai's standing. The disclosure triggers a chain of events forcing their flight from Kosala. Both are killed by Kosalan soldiers during the escape. Her existence and actions directly influence Chapra's motivations, his social ascent, and his eventual downfall.
