Asahi Nakamura, a seven-year-old with piercing brown eyes and twin-tailed brown hair, typically dresses in traditional hakama. Her parents perished during a mission executed by the secret police organization Nue. Sawa Yukimura, the very Nue executioner responsible for their deaths, took Asahi in, forging a complex bond where the girl harbors deep resentment yet lives as Sawa's younger sister figure. This internal turmoil drives Asahi to attempt stabbing Sawa as she sleeps, seeking vengeance, but she falters. Later, Nue executioner Makoto Tsukishiro supplies Asahi with a jar of poison pills, explicitly commanding her to kill Sawa, but she again refuses to act. For her protection, Sawa eventually sends Asahi to a temple, providing a cloth bag containing a map and money. Ultimately, Asahi resolves her conflict by consciously choosing a peaceful life alongside Sawa, rejecting further violence or revenge and accepting their co-dependent relationship despite its traumatic origins.
