OVA
Description
Boulouse Gaute (also spelled Boleuse Gotho) recurs throughout the VOTOMS narrative, featuring in multiple installments like the Phantom Arc OVA. He works as a salvager and arms dealer, first meeting Chirico Cuvie on the planet Melkia in the city of Woodo. Trading weapons and equipment, Gaute uses his deep expertise in military hardware to operate within conflict zones despite having no formal combat training, fitting the Action Survivor archetype.
Gaute joins Chirico, Vanilla Varta, and Coconna as part of their core group. Within the "Big, Thin, Short Trio" alongside Coconna and Vanilla, Gaute embodies the "big" role physically and through his pragmatic, world-weary perspective. His interactions reveal a Cool Old Guy persona, providing logistical support and occasional mentorship. Following the main series events, Gaute marries Ru Shako, a Quentian mercenary first encountered during the Kummen conflict who later played significant roles in the Quent arc and Phantom Arc.
In Phantom Arc, Gaute launches a commemorative journey for Vanilla and Coconna Varta's 25th wedding anniversary. He orchestrates a trip revisiting locations tied to their shared history with Chirico Cuvie, hoping to reconcile the couple during marital difficulties. This pilgrimage serves as nostalgic reflection and sparks the uncovering of deeper mysteries. As the group retraces past struggles and adventures, Gaute becomes instrumental in reconnecting them with former allies and draws them into a 3000-year-old prophecy linked to Chirico’s legacy. His actions drive the narrative toward resolving questions about Chirico’s whereabouts, affirming Gaute’s role as a unifying force.
His character remains consistent in resourcefulness and loyalty, bridging the original series' events with later OVAs through enduring relationships and practical expertise in salvage and arms trading.
