Description
Sumiya Shiro leads the "Way of the Paper Drawing" clan, a group that employs secret drawing techniques to fight chaos. A skilled calligrapher, he wields the extraordinary power to bring hand-drawn kanji to life as powerful creatures, an ability central to his role.

Hanmoto Jumonji, Grand Master of the Mystic Calligraphy Order, recognizes an imminent peril threatening Edo and summons his best disciple, Shiro, to confront it. This threat takes the form of giant creatures attacking the city, revealed to be the work of a mysterious calligrapher using their art for destruction.

During his journey to Edo, Shiro is confronted by a mysterious man named Kokusen Gen, who wields a giant brush to draw ideograms that transform into a powerful beast-like creature which he sends to attack.

After this encounter, Shiro proceeds to an old temple on the outskirts of Edo. There, he meets and joins forces with two other calligraphers, Shimaki and Ena, who were also dispatched by the Grand Master to investigate the disturbances. The three are unaware their actions are part of Gen's vicious game.

It is later revealed that the antagonist calligrapher, Kokusen Gen, is known to Shiro and his companions—an individual holding a deep grudge and possessing monstrous plans for vengeance.
