Born into a barony, his extraordinary magical talent emerged early; he mastered basic fireworks magic in one day at age four and rapidly progressed through advanced texts. By 16, he became the Imperial Magic Institute's youngest scholar. At 18, his development of new offensive military magics bolstered Roland's combat power. Initially indifferent to societal norms, his perspective shifted upon meeting Iluna Laswhale, a village girl. He defied familial objections over status differences, married her, and intensified his magical research to elevate his family, ultimately ascending to the Institute's highest rank: the Purple Magician.

When their son, Ryner Lute, manifested the cursed Alpha Stigma ocular ability, Lieral dedicated himself to altering Ryner's fate. He fragmented the essence of "The Lonely Demon," embedding the "Lonely" fragment into Ryner to suppress the Stigma's berserk tendencies and implanting the "God Devouring" incantation into Lucile Eris's mind. To further shield Ryner from the Goddess's curse, Lieral infused Iluna's body with magic, transforming her into a spiritual entity known as "The Charm of Ātofāru," which he embedded within Ryner. This required Iluna's willing sacrifice, a decision that haunted Lieral as he pleaded with her not to leave. His manipulations included testing Ferris Eris's loyalty to Ryner before affixing protective talismans to her sword.

Saturated with magical energy, Lieral attained an ethereal body immune to conventional attacks. He could alter his appearance, create simulacrums, and wield complex magic without incantations or circles. His mastery encompassed ancient magic and true-word spells, though his magical form left him vulnerable to bearers of the Lino Doue (Senmetsu me). He also possessed the Rule Fragment "Sipuamas," a potent weapon deployed against adversaries like Lucile Eris. Preferring secrecy to evade divine attention, he operated through proxies and manipulations.

Branded a traitor for fragmenting the Lonely Demon, Lieral faced assassination orders from "The Mad Hero" and pursuit by Tiir Rumibul's God's Eyes group, who believed he would destroy the world. His moral compass skewed entirely toward protecting Ryner at any cost, leading him to acknowledge his own madness and willingness to "break the world" for his son. In his final act, he expended his remaining magic to resurrect Enne Lune after her death, accepting responsibility for her fate. This sacrifice caused his permanent disappearance, fulfilling his self-proclaimed role as a "foolish human" driven to extremes for family.
