Layla Takashiro, also known as Leila Takashiro or Rei-chan, is one of three main characters. She has a mixed Italian-Japanese heritage; her father works away from home in the footwear industry at a Crystal Shoe Store, while her Japanese mother shares their standard-style home.

Layla possesses short blonde hair adorned with red clips on each side and aqua or navy blue eyes. Her everyday attire typically includes a yellow dress layered under a green-blue sweater featuring a winged heart logo, black leggings, and red Mary Jane shoes she often misplaces. Summer sees her in a white and blue sailor-inspired outfit. When transforming into her Princess Cinderella idol form, her hair extends into a high ponytail secured by a pearl scrunchie. This form features poofy pants and sleeves, blue gloves, lace leg warmers, and an overlapping blue top. For a school play, she wore a pink dress with a long wig, and at the beach, a green two-piece swimsuit with diamond patterns and a polka-dot tube, accessorized with a blue hairpiece in a small pigtail.

She is characterized by forgetfulness and clumsiness, often forgetting essential items like handkerchiefs or play lines and tripping over obstacles. This tendency causes complications for her team. She frequently drifts into daydreams when preoccupied. Despite this, she demonstrates proficiency in domestic tasks like laundry, cleaning, and sewing. Layla's journey begins encountering fellow protagonists Ringo Yukimori and Natsuki Sasahara at a concert for the idol Wish. There, three magical gems select them as destined princesses to save Fairyland, which is deteriorating due to the disappearance of its princesses. Identified as the embodiment of Cinderella, Layla receives a blue gem from her Ma-Pet, Dai, a dormouse often mistaken for a squirrel. The gem transforms into a dark blue heart bracelet on her left wrist, enabling her metamorphosis into an older popstar idol. This transformation allows her to collect Happiness Tones from humans through musical performances to restore Fairyland. She balances ordinary life with her responsibilities in the idol group "Lilpri," navigating challenges stemming from her forgetful nature.

Her primary relationships include her bond with Dai, who assists in reminding her of forgotten tasks and resides in a miniature dollhouse bed within her home. She shares a close friendship with fellow Lilpri members Ringo and Natsuki, collaborating with them to overcome mission obstacles. Her family dynamics involve her supportive but physically absent father and her mother sharing the home.
