Description
Mizuki Hanasaki, mother of Tsubomi Hanasaki and wife of Youichi Hanasaki, sports short burgundy hair, red eyes, and small glasses. She typically wears a pale yellow top, white denim pants, and pale brown flats. Gentle and motherly by nature, she easily befriends others but turns stern when catching Tsubomi acting oddly or erring.

Mizuki once worked for Red Florian, a premier floral company serving celebrities, conducting field research for new blooms. During an expedition, she met Youichi, also researching flowers, and they fell instantly in love. After marrying and having Tsubomi, both pursued demanding careers requiring frequent travel, leaving Tsubomi with grandmother Kaoruko. Mizuki and Youichi assumed Tsubomi accepted their absences until Mizuki returned unexpectedly to find her crying. Hearing Tsubomi confess her loneliness while clinging to her, Mizuki and Youichi resigned from Red Florian. They moved to Kibougahana, Kaoruko’s town, to co-manage Flower Shop Hanasaki, prioritizing family over careers.

In Kibougahana, Mizuki encourages Tsubomi’s friendships, particularly with Kurumi Erika. She warmly calls Erika "Erika-chan" and accepts Erika addressing her as "oba-sama," recognizing Erika’s positive impact on Tsubomi. After their families connected during the move, Mizuki befriended Erika’s mother, Sakura. Her relationship with Youichi remains harmonious, centered on their flower shop and family. Mizuki excels in floral arrangements, advising customers on bouquets infused with the language of flowers—a passion shared with Tsubomi.

Mizuki remains unaware Tsubomi is a Pretty Cure warrior or that Kaoruko was once Cure Flower. When Youichi receives a job offer from a former student, Mizuki reassures Tsubomi during dinner that he declined, affirming their commitment to the shop. Later, she discovers Tsubomi and Erika eavesdropping on Youichi discussing the offer but lets them leave unchided.

During the series, Mizuki becomes pregnant. She announces this to Tsubomi and Erika during their hospital visit, expressing confidence in Tsubomi’s ability as an older sister. Hospitalized extensively before the birth, she delivers a second daughter, Futaba, near the series’ end.
