Description
Dr. Hell, known in some regions as Dr. Inferno, is a mad scientist driven by an obsession with world domination. His central aim is to seize control of Photon Energy, a formidable power source derived from Japanium ore located beneath Mount Fuji. To accomplish this, he commands an army of Mechanical Beasts unearthed from Bardos Island, the presumed location of the ancient Mycenaean civilization.
His history is deeply connected to Dr. Juzo Kabuto, with whom he originally discovered the Mechanical Beasts. However, Dr. Hell was corrupted by the malevolent Kedora parasite from the Mycenaean empire, turning him toward evil and creating a permanent rift with Dr. Kabuto, who recognized the Kedora's threat.
Operating alongside key lieutenants such as Baron Ashura—a fusion of two individuals—and the undead cyborg Nazi Count Brocken, whose head is detached from his body, Dr. Hell directs assaults on the Photon Power Laboratory. These attacks, often led by Baron Ashura and the Ashura Corps, deploy Mechanical Beasts to steal Photon Energy and eliminate opposition.
Dr. Hell’s actions are rooted in the larger mythos of the Mycenae Empire, and his defeat is suggested to herald the arrival of this greater threat. In the final conflict, he pilots the colossal Hell King Gordon robot fortress, only to be defeated by Koji Kabuto in Mazinger Z using the 100 Rocket Punch Barrage. Across various adaptations, including the Super Robot Wars series, Dr. Hell remains the central antagonist, commanding Mechanical Beasts and fortresses such as the Flying Fortress Ghoul.
