Description
Yukiatsu Ryuudou, heir of a shogunate vassal family, vanished into the "Other World" at fifteen. He returned one year later, though only an instant passed for him, fundamentally altered and unable to find satisfaction in ordinary human experiences like food or surroundings. This journey granted him Ayagami power—the ability to discern and weaponize supernatural entities' true names by extracting their inherent meanings.

After returning, he spiraled into recklessness and self-destruction. As a ronin and later bodyguard, he engaged in constant fighting, gambling deception, and sexually harassing a woman named Oshino, driven by a desperate need to feel alive in a world that felt unreal. Fifteen years before the main events, his friend Kumoshichi (real name Shikiji) provoked a lethal confrontation to stop Yukiatsu's decline. Yukiatsu killed Kumoshichi in self-defense but repressed the traumatic memory. Unconsciously, he manifested a Yoi entity identical to Kumoshichi, which became an unseen companion offering counsel.

He drifted afterward, living in vagrant camps. Tattoos on his arm and shoulder marked cycles of capture, escape, and recapture, cementing his identity as a perpetual outsider disconnected from society and human bonds. Adopting the name "Yuki," he took transient jobs like bathhouse work. These experiences forged deep empathy for society's marginalized—foreigners, vagrants, and persecution victims.

Recruited by the secret Yoi-combating group Bansha Aratamesho, his Ayagami power proved vital. Working with the Ayashi team forced him to confront his past. The repressed memory of Kumoshichi's death resurfaced, revealing his companion as a self-created Yoi. During a crisis involving the Aztec girl Atl's rampaging Yoi horse/dragon Quetzl (Yukiwa), the Kumoshichi Yoi merged with the creature to stabilize it, thereafter existing only as part of Quetzl.

His journey involved reconciling trauma and outsider status. An encounter with Ota, a boy facing sacrifice who glimpsed the Other World, underscored Yukiatsu's connection to those caught between worlds and societal rejection. He evolved from detachment to accepting his role and forging bonds with fellow Ayashi. Later, he crafted special weapons for Ayashi leader Ogasawara. The OVA *Ayashi Divine Comedy* revealed a stable time loop: his childhood rescue from the Other World was facilitated by the adult Ayashi team, including his future self, Atl, and others.
