Description
Marie Kagura is Yuuji Kagura's younger sister, living next door to the Arisaka family. Once remembered as a childhood crybaby, her personality changed dramatically after her family's ten-year absence. She now appears reserved and emotionally detached, often seeming quiet and withdrawn. This demeanor conceals deeper complexities: a strong attachment to her brother and lingering distress from her parents' frequent absences due to their father's treasure-hunting career, fueling feelings of instability and loneliness.

Her defining trait is enforcing moral discipline on Yuuji regarding his inappropriate behavior, especially toward Kazuki Arisaka. Tasked by their father, she uses modified stuffed animals—primarily a teddy bear named Seiyū—concealing airsoft guns or paintball markers to deliver non-lethal but impactful "punishments." She intervenes immediately and ruthlessly whenever Yuuji acts perversely, reflecting a literal interpretation of her duty. Despite this aggression, she shows genuine concern for Yuuji's well-being, feeling lonely without him and occasionally revealing protectiveness bordering on possessiveness. This dynamic intensifies as Kazuki and Yuuji's relationship evolves, sparking jealousy in Marie that sometimes escalates to threats toward Kazuki.

Marie exhibits pronounced phobias, particularly of insects and cats. Insects trigger frantic evasion, while cats induce near-paralysis despite inexplicably attracting them. These fears contrast her otherwise stoic persona. Her introverted nature is challenged in the classroom by Nina Isokawa, an energetic and persistent classmate. Nina's relentless efforts to befriend Marie—coupled with a pivotal moment where Nina protects her from a cat—gradually soften Marie's resistance, leading to an unlikely but genuine friendship.

Her development reveals subtle layers. While often framed as an emotionless enforcer, moments hint at underlying wishes for Yuuji to revert to his pre-puberty self, when their bond was simpler. This desire intersects with her failure to curb his hormonal behavior, highlighting an internal conflict between her assigned role and this personal longing. Manga-exclusive content further explores her reactions to familial instability, such as distress when her father's photography assistant prevents Yuuji from contacting home during a crisis.
