Description
Shu Shirakawa is a character of immense complexity whose story spans multiple timelines. Born in the subterranean world of La Gias as Cristoph Gran McSord, he is the son of a La Gias denizen and an Earthling mother, Misaki Shirakawa, who gave him the private Japanese name Shirakawa Satoshi. As a child, his mother attempted to sacrifice him in a ritual to return to the surface world. On the verge of death, he formed a pact with the destructive god Volkruss, an act that saved his life and granted him supernatural intelligence but also placed him under the god's control. This event left him with deep physical and emotional scars, including a significant distrust of women.

In La Gias, he was originally an heir to the throne of the Langran Kingdom. After his pact became known, he was feared as the "Apostate Christophe" and eventually left his homeland for the surface world Earth. There, he adopted the name Shu Shirakawa and became a brilliant scientist, earning multiple PhDs at a young age. His intellect allowed him to quickly master surface science and combine it with La Gias alchemy and magic. Fascinated by Dr. Bian Zoldark, he joined the EOTI Organization and later the Divine Crusaders, contributing significantly as a researcher and mecha developer.

His most notable achievement was the design and creation of the powerful mecha Granzon, which utilized one-third of the Divine Crusaders' funding. The Granzon is noted for its advanced gravity-based weaponry and defensive systems. Later, he channeled Volkruss's power to transform it into the even more devastating Neo Granzon. After freeing himself from Volkruss, he learned to achieve similar enhancements through alchemy and magic alone.

Shu Shirakawa is characterized by an extremely proper and reserved demeanor, though he is often condescending towards those he perceives as weak. He is highly independent, cherishes his freedom, and strongly resists being controlled by others. He is typically accompanied by a familiar, a foul-mouthed, talkative bird named Chika, which was created in an attempt to obtain the Masou Kishin Cybuster. However, Chika's personality annoyed him so much he did not create a second familiar necessary to fully utilize that machine.

His history is deeply intertwined with his rivalry with Masaki Andoh, the pilot of the Cybuster. Their first encounter occurred on Earth, and their conflict escalated when Shu, piloting the Granzon, attacked the Langran capital, renounced his royal heritage, and declared war on the kingdom. During this event, he killed Zeoroot, a father figure to Masaki, cementing a lasting hatred between them. Despite often being enemies, their relationship gradually evolves from pure rivalry to one of reluctant cooperation and even mutual, albeit wary, respect over time, particularly during threats to La Gias and Earth.

Across various timelines, his actions are consistently driven by a desire to free himself from Volkruss's influence. After being defeated and killed by Masaki and allies while piloting the Neo Granzon in an event known as Ragnarok, he was resurrected by the Volkruss cult high priest Luozorl Zoran Loiel. This resurrection wiped his memories, including the pact with Volkruss, which allowed him to rebel against the cult and ultimately destroy both the sect and the god Volkruss itself, achieving his freedom and gaining revenge for years of manipulation.

Once free, his character demonstrates significant development. He becomes a more reasonable individual who keeps his promises and often operates independently to assist former enemies against greater threats, such as the Inspectors and the Guests, though his methods remain enigmatic and his alliances are often temporary. He maintains associations with a diverse group of individuals, including subordinates like Telius Gran Bilseia and Amara Barton, and has relationships with self-proclaimed girlfriends such as Saphine Grace and Princess Monica Grania Bilseia.

His story concludes in some timelines with his death, while in others, he continues to operate as a powerful, independent force, his actions forever shaping the conflicts between Earth and La Gias.
