Description
Django, alias Jango, features in the short film "One Piece: Django's Dance Carnival." This former pirate acted as first mate and temporary captain of the Black Cat Pirates under Captain Kuro, bearing a 9,000,000 berry bounty. His hypnotic power stems from consuming the cap of a mushroom growing on his chin, leaving the stem visible. He triggers hypnosis by swinging his sharp chakram pendulum while subjects hear "One, Two, Jango," inducing sleep, boosting strength, or implanting suggestions. Avoiding eye contact blocks the effect, and he frequently hypnotizes himself by forgetting to shield his eyes.
Abandoned by the Black Cat Pirates, he reached Mirror Ball Island during its dance carnival. Fleeing Marines, he encountered the similarly pursued Straw Hat Pirates. Desperate, he amplified his hypnosis using the island's giant disco ball, forcing the entire population—Marines, civilians, and Straw Hats—to dance uncontrollably. This caused massive chaos and the island's destruction. The hypnosis faded by morning, with Luffy and Jango last seen dancing together on the disco ball's ruins.
His journey continues in the "Jango's Dance Paradise" cover story. Stranded after Syrup Village, he formed an unlikely friendship with Marine officer Fullbody during a Mirror Ball Island dance contest. They cooperated against the Tulip Pirates, leading to Jango's arrest. Fullbody secured his pardon through a plea dance. Jango then joined the Marines, serving as a lieutenant commander under Rear Admiral Hina alongside Fullbody. His signature dance moves and flamboyant attire persisted, often mirroring Fullbody's actions.
Throughout, Jango displays distinct traits: heart-shaped pupils concealed behind red heart-shaped glasses, exaggerated dance-inspired combat kicks, and a carefree yet bumbling demeanor. His unrequited attraction to Hina and camaraderie with Fullbody define his Marine service, though past conflicts and law-enforcement duties maintain his adversarial stance towards the Straw Hat Pirates.
