Trained in submission holds, he adopted the "Submission Artist" persona, concealing his appearance with tights, an armored vest, and a helmet featuring a tinted visor. A sparring session led Pashango to uncover Ricardo's link to the evil d.M.p faction. Ricardo killed his master using the Torture Slash technique, staging the death as an accident. Unseen by Ricardo, Pashango's student Silva witnessed him stomping his master's corpse to confirm the kill, though Silva kept silent initially.
Gaining popularity in Brazil, Ricardo entered the Chojin Olympics.
