Description
Edmond Du Clos served as a tank platoon commander for the OMNI Enforcer military forces during the First Alliance-PLANT War, retiring afterward with the rank of Lieutenant Commander. He then entered civilian life as a security officer at the Deep Space Survey and Development Organization's Technology Development Center in South America.
He possessed a strong sense of responsibility, exemplified when he assumed guardianship of his nephew, Sol Ryuune L'ange, following the deaths of Sol's parents in an accident. Edmond's sister, an engineer at DSSD, also died during the war, reinforcing his commitment to Sol's well-being. Edmond harbored significant resentment towards ZAFT stemming from his experiences in the previous conflict.
During the chaos after the "Break the World" incident, Edmond was tasked with protecting DSSD researcher Selene McGriff. They survived the initial flooding caused by falling orbital debris but became isolated from the DSSD facility. With Selene facing a critical deadline for an essential DSSD space shuttle launch, Edmond sought help at an Atlantic Federation military-run refugee aid center. Encountering former subordinates there, he requested a helicopter, but his request was denied due to the overwhelming refugee crisis and lack of resources.
The situation escalated when a ZGMF-1017 GINN Insurgent Type, piloted by ZAFT-aligned individuals, began indiscriminate attacks on the city. Recognizing the threat, Edmond secured Selene's escape by placing her on a motorized raft directed towards the DSSD facility. He returned to the military outpost and successfully petitioned to assume command of a platoon of Linear Tanks, leveraging his respected reputation despite his civilian status.
Edmond devised and executed a tactical plan against the GINN. He used the majority of his tanks as a diversion. While the GINN focused on the decoys, Edmond maneuvered the tank he personally commanded and operated as gunner into close proximity. He achieved a direct hit, destroying the hostile mobile suit. However, the GINN returned fire just before its destruction. This counterattack proved fatal for Edmond and destroyed his tank. He survived long enough to witness Selene's shuttle launch successfully into space before succumbing to his injuries.
