Aquarius Camus held the title of Gold Saint, guarding the eleventh temple in Athena's Sanctuary. Born in France, he achieved Gold Saint status at age seven, one of the youngest ever appointed, and was sent to Siberia for advanced training under Pope Shion. His mastery centered on cryokinesis, wielding ice-based techniques: Diamond Dust, Freezing Coffin, and his ultimate attack, Aurora Execution, capable of nearing absolute zero. Camus trained Cygnus Hyoga in Siberia, imparting combat skills and the philosophy that Saints must control emotions to avoid spreading despair. Aware of the Pope's corruption yet lacking definitive proof, Camus maintained outward neutrality during the Sanctuary conflict. To sever Hyoga's emotional attachment to his deceased mother—viewed as a combat weakness—Camus sank her ship. Their battle in the Aquarius Temple culminated in Camus's death, sacrificing himself to push Hyoga toward mastering the Seventh Sense and achieving absolute zero, expressing pride in his pupil with his final breath. In the Hades Chapter, Hades temporarily resurrected Camus alongside Gemini Saga and Capricorn Shura, providing false bodies and twelve hours of life. Disguised as Specters, they infiltrated Sanctuary to assassinate Athena. Their true allegiance to Athena surfaced during the conflict, and their borrowed time expired at Heinstein Castle. Camus's spirit later awakened the Eighth Sense, retaining consciousness in the Underworld. He participated in the twelve Gold Saints' collective sacrifice at the Wailing Wall, their combined Cosmo destroying the barrier between the realms of the dead and the living. Spin-off media expanded Camus's portrayal. In Episode G, he collaborated closely with allies like Scorpio Milo, protecting civilians during conflicts with Titans such as Pontos and Oceanus. He strategically employed freezing techniques to seal threats like the Megas Drepanon. Soul of Gold depicted Camus temporarily manipulated by guilt over an unfulfilled promise linked to a friend's sister's death, leading to a brief betrayal. After a confrontation with Milo, he overcame this conflict and rejoined the fight against the God Warriors in Asgard. Across all portrayals, Camus maintained a stoic, duty-bound persona. His actions revealed deep loyalty to Athena and his disciples, with his mentorship of Hyoga remaining central to his character arc. His final duel and sacrifice were instrumental in his pupil's ascension. Philosophical undertones, influenced by his namesake Albert Camus, reflected his continuous balancing of duty, sacrifice, and emotional restraint.
