Shiryu de Dragão stands among the principal Bronze Saints, distinguished by formidable physical prowess and wisdom. He trained at China's Lushan Five Ancient Peaks under Gold Saint Libra Dohko, awakening his Cosmo to reverse a waterfall's current and claim the Dragon Bronze Cloth—emerald armor renowned for defense. A dragon tattoo materializes across his back during Cosmo surges, vanishing as his life force wanes to signal mortality.
Early engagements featured the Galaxian Wars tournament, where his duel against Pegasus Seiya exposed a millisecond vulnerability in his Rozan Shō Ryū Ha technique, nearly stopping his heart. In the Black Saints arc, guided by Aries Mu, he sacrificed his blood at the Cemetery of Cloths to revive damaged armors. Against Silver Saints, he deliberately blinded himself to counter Perseus Algol's petrification shield, adapting through heightened Cosmo perception despite lasting blindness.
During the Poseidon arc, he inherited the Excalibur technique from Capricorn Shura's spirit, shattering Chrysaor Krishna's spear and the Marine Pillar. His atomic-level mastery of Excalibur briefly granted him the Libra Gold Cloth.
In the Hades Chapter's Sanctuary segment, Shiryu defied Athena's orders to shield his master Dohko. Unimpeded by blindness, he defeated resurrected foes including Algol and intervened in Dohko's clash with Shion. His bond with Shura reemerged during the Athena Exclamation confrontation.
Descending into the Underworld in the Inferno chapter alongside fellow Bronze Saints, Shiryu partnered with Cygnus Hyoga. Navigating Hades' realms via tactile Cosmo awareness, he held back pursuing Specters at Elysium's entrance to ensure allies advanced. There, he executed Rozan Hyaku Ryū Ha—a technique witnessed once from Dohko—annihilating three Specters instantly, showcasing tactical brilliance and sacrifice.
Throughout Elysion, Shiryu maintained stoic composure against deities Thanatos and Hypnos, avoiding peers' impulsiveness. His Dragon Cloth evolved into a God Cloth, amplifying his Cosmo to multiversal intensity. He joined the final assault on Hades, contributing to the deity's defeat beside Athena and comrades.
His techniques include Rozan Shō Ryū Ha (with its historic cardiac flaw), Rozan Ryū Hi Shō, forbidden suicide move Rozan Kō Ryū Ha, and Excalibur. Mastery of the Eighth Sense granted soul-body autonomy in the Underworld, enabling resurrection. Post-blindness, his Cosmo perception compensated fully, allowing precise environmental awareness and attacks.
