Description
Clark Still, often mistakenly called Clark Steel due to a translation error, is a professional mercenary and core member of the Ikari Warriors, operating under Heidern’s command alongside his longtime partner, Ralf Jones. His official nickname, “Tough & Cool,” suits his focused and composed demeanor.

Previously a spy, Clark transitioned into mercenary work under Heidern. He bears a scar in the center of his forehead, usually hidden behind his signature sunglasses—an injury accidentally caused by Ralf mishandling a knife.

Taciturn and emotionally reserved, Clark provides a calm counterbalance to Ralf’s exuberance. Though outwardly stoic, he carries a subtle melancholy and demonstrates unwavering loyalty to his comrades. He occasionally teases Ralf about his stubbornness and maintains strong kinship with teammates like Leona Heidern and Whip.

Professionally, Clark excels with firearms, survival in harsh environments—particularly jungles—and knife combat. As a fighter, he specializes in grapples and throws, blending Ikari Warriors techniques with wrestling holds. His distinct moves include the Napalm Stretch, reminiscent of Ataru Kinniku’s technique from *Kinnikuman*, and the Clark Spark, directly inspired by the Kinniku Spark.

Clark’s history is entwined with the Ikari Warriors’ missions and The King of Fighters tournaments. Heidern recruited him for the 1994 tournament to investigate Rugal Bernstein and seek revenge. Clark continued competing in later years, and when Heidern retired from active fighting in 1996, Leona joined their team. During the 1997 tournament, Clark and Ralf helped Leona through a personal crisis, preventing her suicide and reaffirming her belonging.

In the NESTS saga, Whip joined the team in 1999, showing a preference for Clark’s professionalism over Ralf’s. Clark later participated in the search for Whip after she disappeared post-2000 tournament. During the Ash saga, he joined the mission to investigate the Sky Noah airship in 2003, where he and Ralf subdued a berserk Leona during a Riot of the Blood episode. Before the XI tournament, he attended the military funeral of Jim Aldgate, highlighting the team’s deep trust.

Outside the tournaments, Clark aided the Peregrine Falcon Squad in operations against General Morden’s army in *Metal Slug 6* and *Metal Slug 7*.

In the animated ONA *The King of Fighters: Another Day*, Clark appears with the Ikari team in South Town investigating a major fire. In Episode 3, he, Ralf, and Leona are dispatched to stop K’ and Maxima from sabotaging underground tunnels, pursuing them onto a subway train before their escape. In Episode 4, the team observes a clash between Alba Meira and Kyo Kusanagi.
