Description
Takuma Kurebayashi, a quiet 12-year-old with black hair and greyish-black eyes, endures a life steeped in tragedy within Lovely Hills. Branded the "Devil’s Child" by superstitious townsfolk who link him to supernatural calamities, his ostracization mirrors Ai Enma’s tormented past. Born to Eiichi Kurebayashi, a celebrated producer, and Reiko Kurebayashi, his family’s return to Japan after a decade in New York unraveled swiftly: Reiko, newly recovered from illness, was murdered via crossbow. A witness’s false testimony framed Takuma as the killer, fueling public condemnation. This persecution worsened when Kakinuma—Eiichi’s envious acquaintance and Reiko’s true murderer—attacked Eiichi, only to be dragged to Hell by a scorned lover. Yet the town again blamed Takuma, accusing him of patricide and cementing his cursed reputation.
Despite isolation after his father’s hospitalization, Takuma clung to resilience, rejecting vengeance after briefly accessing the Hell Correspondence to target Kakinuma. Returning the straw doll to Ai, he sought legal justice—a choice met with relentless suspicion. Mob violence ensued, nearly drowning him and Hotaru Meshiai, loyal friend and sister to missing detective Seiichi Meshiai. Hotaru, convinced of his innocence, later invoked the Hell Correspondence against Takuma, halted by Ai’s intervention. In a final confrontation, Ai shielded him from wrathful spirits, her body dissolving into sakura petals as she renounced her cycle of vengeance.
Takuma’s latent foresight, noted by Ai, hinted at untapped spiritual power. His bond with Hotaru anchored his struggles against the town’s hostility, even as her brother vanished. The saga closed with Lovely Hills in decay: charges against Takuma dissolved, Eiichi recovered, and Hotaru lingered comatose with whispers of eventual awakening. His pursuers fled, leaving him to rebuild amidst ruins, the weight of curses lifted but scars enduring.
