William Anthonio Zeppeli, known as Will A. Zeppeli, hails from Italy's scholarly Zeppeli family. Born January 19, 1838, he pursued the unknown from youth. As an adult, he joined his father's archaeological expedition in Mexico, unearthing an Aztec ruin containing the Stone Mask. During their return voyage, his father activated the mask, transforming into a vampire who slaughtered 58 crew members. Zeppeli escaped by leaping into the sea and was rescued by fishermen. This tragedy ignited his lifelong quest to destroy the Stone Mask and its creations. Two years later, Zeppeli traveled worldwide seeking a counter to the mask’s power. In India, a stranger guided him to Tibet’s Master Tonpetty. Under Tonpetty, Zeppeli mastered the Ripple (Hamon)—a martial art channeling solar energy through breath control. During training, Tonpetty foresaw Zeppeli’s death, warning that completing his training would fulfill this fate. Zeppeli accepted destiny and graduated alongside Dire. Zeppeli displays eccentric courage, marked by quirks like excessive pepper use, peculiar wine drinking, and leaping with crossed legs. His unorthodox teaching includes demonstrating the Zoom Punch by striking Jonathan Joestar without warning. In battle, he remains calm and methodical, emphasizing courage as the Ripple’s core—defining it as fear mastered. He reveres the Ripple as humanity’s ultimate spiritual achievement. Learning of Jonathan Joestar’s victory over Dio Brando and injuries, Zeppeli sought him out. He healed Jonathan’s shattered arm with Ripple and mentored him for two weeks, stressing mental focus and breath control. He then joined Jonathan and Robert E. O. Speedwagon to defeat Dio and destroy the Stone Mask. Key actions include saving brainwashed child Poco from a cliff, battling Jack the Ripper to showcase Ripple, and confronting Dio—where Dio flash-froze Zeppeli’s arm, briefly incapacitating him. Zeppeli perished fighting Tarkus in an ancient chamber. Guided by Poco, he recognized the site from Tonpetty’s prophecy and accepted his fate. After Tarkus bisected him at the waist, he performed the Ultimate Deep Pass Overdrive, transferring all life energy to Jonathan. This sacrifice empowered Jonathan to fight on; Zeppeli urged him to save the world before dying. His body aged rapidly during the transfer—skin wrinkling, hair whitening. Earlier, he had requested Tonpetty’s aid via letter, prompting Dire and Straizo to join the battle. As a Ripple master, Zeppeli wielded diverse abilities: healing wounds, reviving plants, water-walking, and limited foresight. Techniques included Zoom Punch (joint dislocation for extended reach), Hamon Cutter (Ripple-infused wine projectiles), and Sendo Wave Kick (knee strike). Notable Overdrives were Sunlight Yellow Overdrive (sunlight channeling), Life Magnetism Overdrive (leaf manipulation for gliding), and Tornado Overdrive (spinning aerial dive). His final move, Ultimate Deep Pass Overdrive, transferred his life force. Zeppeli’s legacy endured through his family. His sacrifice inspired son Mario Zeppeli to train in Ripple, though Mario abandoned his children to protect them from supernatural threats. The lineage continued with grandson Caesar Anthonio Zeppeli, who later aided Jonathan’s grandson, Joseph Joestar.
